Romestead is a cooperative action-adventure survival game that blends Roman-inspired worldbuilding, settlement construction, farming, and undead survival within a post-collapse world where the remnants of civilization struggle to survive after the fall of Rome. Designed for both solo play and online co-op with up to eight players, the game challenges survivors to rebuild society while defending against relentless hordes of the dead spreading across the ruins of a once-great empire.
Set in an alternate version of history where the collapse of Rome was accompanied by a terrifying undead catastrophe, the world has descended into chaos. Ancient cities lie abandoned, roads have become overrun with monsters, and scattered survivors desperately cling to isolated settlements while the old empire crumbles into ruin. Players step into this dangerous frontier as survivors attempting not only to stay alive, but to restore civilization itself.
Survival gameplay forms the foundation of the experience. Players gather resources, hunt for supplies, craft tools and weapons, construct shelters, and defend their communities against increasingly dangerous undead attacks. Food, materials, farming infrastructure, and defensive planning all become essential for long-term survival in a world where danger constantly threatens from beyond the settlement walls.
Settlement-building systems allow players to create and expand Roman-inspired communities from the ground up. Houses, farms, workshops, walls, temples, storage facilities, and defensive structures can all be constructed and upgraded to support larger populations and more advanced production systems. As settlements grow, players unlock additional crafting opportunities, stronger defenses, and improved quality of life for survivors.
Combat combines melee action, ranged weapons, and cooperative survival mechanics as players battle massive hordes of undead creatures roaming the countryside and attacking settlements. Group coordination becomes especially important during large-scale assaults, where players must repair defenses, hold choke points, and fight together to prevent entire communities from being overrun.
A major thematic element of the game revolves around restoring the favor of the Roman gods. Players can rebuild temples, revive forgotten rituals, and reconnect with ancient divine powers tied to the old empire. These systems introduce mythological and supernatural elements into the survival gameplay, potentially granting blessings, abilities, or world-changing effects connected to the gods themselves.
Exploration plays a major role throughout progression. Players travel through ruined Roman cities, abandoned villas, forests, farms, battlefields, and forgotten temples while searching for supplies, uncovering lost knowledge, and discovering the fate of the fallen empire. Hidden dangers, rare resources, and mysterious relics encourage players to venture beyond the safety of their settlements despite the constant risk of death.
Despite the dangerous setting, the game also supports a more relaxed and cozy side of survival gameplay. Farming, fishing, crafting, animal care, settlement decoration, and cooperative community building allow players to create peaceful moments between battles and focus on rebuilding a thriving society together with friends.
How To Install

- From here, choose your preferred platform and select ‘Download Here’ to begin.
- Once the transfer is complete, right click on the .zip (or .rar & .iso) file and select ‘Extract to Romestead’. To extract files use 7-Zip, which you can get from software.
- Open the extracted folder and run the application to start the game.
- Enjoy! Don’t forget to run the game as administrator as it helps prevents crashes and errors. Remember to support the developers if you enjoy the game.
